Since 2013 Blue Networks have supported FSR/Abellio and Level 3 Communications to design and install public WIFI access into 52 stations across the Scottish network. 26 stations were deployed last summer in time for the Commonwealth Games and another 26 are in the process of being rolled out. We have also been involved with the new Border Railway project, this is first new Railway project for 100 years. Blue Networks project managed both circuit and WIFI infrastructure to enable the service to be ready for the Queens visit in September 2015.

Blue Networks continue to work in partnership with Scotrail/Abellio and Level3 Communications increasing the WIFI coverage for Scotland’s Railways.

Airmagnet surveys were carried out at all sites as well as a detailed infrastructure survey to ascertain cabling requirements. The equipment deployed were Ruckus 7762’s and uses Cisco switching and routing back to a Zone Director located in Telehouse London. Work has been carried out through winter months in the North of Scotland which has had its challenges due to adverse weather, however all deadlines have been achieved. GPS coordinates are recorded for all equipment which is then added to monitoring platform for visual maintenance alerts.

Project Management – We currently provide continued Project Management to Scotrail/Abellio for the purpose of delivering circuits and the roll out of WIFI across Scotland’s Railways.
